Fine Art and Old Friends: Photographs from the Black Oak Indian Art Market

By Vincent Medina

The News from Native California crew was on the Tuolumne Rancheria last May at the Black Oak Casino annual Indian Market. We drove through the lush Central Valley and into golden foothills that lead to Tuolumne and felt so happy to have a presence at this incredible market, which showcases some of Native California’s finest artisans. Abalone finery, clamshell beads, baskets, and foods – so much was here. We’ll let the photographs speak for the fun that we had, and say “thank you” to the Tuolumne Me-Wuk for hosting us in their beautiful homeland. Next year we will be back!
