Once caught\, these prized fish were filleted\, smoked\, and enjoyed for their rich taste and nutritional value.\nExplore the tools\, techniques\, and cultural significance of these fishing traditions at our “Traditional Tastes” exhibit! \nNow on display at the Clarke Historical Museum. Personal and collective stories interweave with Indigenous knowledge in global reciprocity. \nThis project includes:\n• Four ~20-minute poetic Documentary Profiles profiling key Indigenous leaders in this movement\n• Eight long-form Oral Histories delving into Indigenous knowledge\, leaders’ life experiences\, pivotal relationships\, events and protocols \nThese videos are for Indigenous communities seeking greater economic and narrative sovereignty; philanthropists and policy-makers seeking greater equity; and for teachers and youth seeking Indigenous knowledge and wisdom. The Pow Wow is focused on displaying the university’s strong American Indian presence. Admission and parking are free. \nThe two-day event\, which will feature American Indian dancing\, arts\, crafts and food begins at 11 AM each day and runs until 10 PM on Saturday and 7 PM on Sunday. In addition to dance contests and inter-tribal dancing\, there will be California Indian Cultural Presentations\, Gourd dancing with Dancer Registration closing at 2 PM on Saturday. All dancers and drums are invited. \nNative foods\, such as mutton and beef stew\, Navajo tacos\, fry bread\, and Indian burgers will be on sale at the event\, and American Indian vendors will be selling both traditional and contemporary American Indian art. \nA campus map and directions can be found at www.csulb.edu/map.
