SUMMARY:MMIP Training Conference
DESCRIPTION:This free training seminar is a pivotal MMIP collaboration between tribal representatives\, legal professionals\, victims’ advocates\, healing and wellness experts\, policymakers\, and law enforcement agencies throughout California. Janet K. Bill (Chukchansi)\, Director of Office of Native American Affairs (ONAA) in the California Office of the Attorney General\, is the primary instructor. She and other subject matter experts will address the systemic failures that perpetuate the MMIP crisis in both traditional and urban communities\, and recognized and unrecognized tribes. \nTraining modules include: Feather Alert System criteria\, the intersection of MMIP with human trafficking and other violent crimes\, jurisdictional conflicts that impede investigations\, and a presentation of culturally appropriate services available to victims and their families. This is the first MMIP-focused training initiative to qualify for official Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification in the State of California. Please visit https://www.mmiptrainingconference.com for more information. \n\nThe conference host\, Supporting Indigenous Communities Group (SICG)\, is led by Chairperson Mary Ann Carbone (Chumash)\, Mayor of Sand City\, CA. SICG is pleased to offer free registration for this training conference until capacity is reached. Direct inquiries to: NativeHeritageCA@icloud.com
