SUMMARY:San Manuel Pow Wow
DESCRIPTION:San Manuel Pow Wow is a three-day celebration free to the public and features Southern California traditional bird singers and dancers\, as well as North American and Canadian dancers and drum singing groups. In addition\, there is also vending from artisans representing Indian tribal nations from all across North America and Canada. \nSince its beginning in 1996\, the San Manuel Pow Wow has remained a celebration of Indigenous cultures and a symbol or Indigenous resiliency–open to all in the spirit of friendship. \nDuring the three-day event\, the Pow Wow is a sacred space where people from across Indian Country can share their traditions\, spirituality and individual style through sounds\, motion and art. Native American dishes–such as crowd-favorite foods like fry bread–as well as a diverse array of authentic Native American traditional crafts and fine art will be available for purchase from vendors. \nSan Manuel is proud to present more than $250\,000 in cash prizes\, which will be awarded to contestants competing in the Native American dancing and singing competitions. \nThey look forward to hosting their Native American relatives: dancers\, drum groups\, vendors\, spectators\, and honored quests to celebrate the very best of Indian Country. \n2023 POW WOW –  Contestant Photography \n2023 San Manuel Pow Wow Contestants request your photos here. \n\n2024 POW WOW  – Tentative Schedule \n\nFriday\n\n5pm – Blessing Of The Grounds\n6pm – Bird Singing And Dancing\n8pm – Grand Entry\nMidnight – Retreat Colors\n\n\nSaturday\n\n11am – Gourd Dancing\nNoon – Bird Singing And Dancing\n1pm – Grand Entry\n6pm – Bird Singing And Dancing\n8pm – Grand Entry\nMidnight – Retreat Colors\n\n\nSunday\n\n11am – Gourd Dancing\nNoon – Bird Singing And Dancing\n1pm – Grand Entry\n6pm – Announce Winners | Retreat Colors\n\n\n\n\nVENDORS \nWith respect to Indian culture\, Native American artists only. SUMMARY:Morongo Thunder & Lightning Pow Wow
DESCRIPTION:A Warm Welcome\n\n“TO EACH AND EVERY POWWOW GUEST AND PARTICIPANT\, \nWelcome to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians 32nd Annual Powwow! We are pleased you have joined us in celebration of our Native American Heritage and traditions. This is a time to reaffirm old ways and share in the discovery of new. \nTo our elders we extend a special welcome. Our children look to you for the lessons and examples in how to carry ancient memory\, tradition\, and culture into their modern world. Our tribal family is extended today by the presence of members of communities near and far. \nThere are no “spectators” at a Powwow. All who attend are regarded as participants. Each one of us has a place in the circle of people. Within this circle there is no beginning and no end. This coming together is at the heart of the traditional Powwow. \nWe were named the number #1 Most Popular Powwow in 2022\, 2021 and number #1 Contest Powwow in 2009 from viewers at Powwows.com. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Native American culture and Morongo hospitality. We hope you will enjoy every moment of the festivities.” \n\n\nSincerely\,\nCharles Martin\, Tribal Chairman\nJames Siva\, Tribal Vice Chairman\nMary Ann Andreas\, Tribal Council Member\nBrian Lugo\, Tribal Council Member\nJeanette Burns\, Tribal Council Member\nTheresa Mathews\, Tribal Council Member\nTeresa Sanchez\, Tribal Council Member \n
