SUMMARY:Morongo Thunder & Lightning Pow Wow
DESCRIPTION:A Warm Welcome\n\n“TO EACH AND EVERY POWWOW GUEST AND PARTICIPANT\, \nWelcome to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians 32nd Annual Powwow! We are pleased you have joined us in celebration of our Native American Heritage and traditions. This is a time to reaffirm old ways and share in the discovery of new. \nTo our elders we extend a special welcome. Our children look to you for the lessons and examples in how to carry ancient memory\, tradition\, and culture into their modern world. Our tribal family is extended today by the presence of members of communities near and far. \nThere are no “spectators” at a Powwow. All who attend are regarded as participants. Each one of us has a place in the circle of people. Within this circle there is no beginning and no end. This coming together is at the heart of the traditional Powwow. \nWe were named the number #1 Most Popular Powwow in 2022\, 2021 and number #1 Contest Powwow in 2009 from viewers at Powwows.com. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Native American culture and Morongo hospitality. We hope you will enjoy every moment of the festivities.” \n\n\nSincerely\,\nCharles Martin\, Tribal Chairman\nJames Siva\, Tribal Vice Chairman\nMary Ann Andreas\, Tribal Council Member\nBrian Lugo\, Tribal Council Member\nJeanette Burns\, Tribal Council Member\nTheresa Mathews\, Tribal Council Member\nTeresa Sanchez\, Tribal Council Member \n

SUMMARY:UC Santa Cruz Pow Wow 2025
DESCRIPTION:The UCSC American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) and the Student Alliance for North American & Indigenous Peoples is honored to invite you to the UC Santa Cruz Pow Wow 2025\, on Sunday\, May 18th\, 2025 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in downtown Santa Cruz\, California.\n\n\nTraditionally\, the AIRC hosts an annual event called Indigefest during the spring quarter. Our annual event celebrates the culture\, songs\, dances\, and arts of Indigenous people in a “pan-tribal” atmosphere of fellowship\, trust\, respect\, and empowerment. In 1992\, SANAI hosted  the North American Indian Spring Pow wow located at WestField on campus. At this point the students are continuing to research the history of the pow wow. In 2012\, they also celebrated the life of Sophia Garcia Robles\, a Native woman who served UCSC for 27 years in the Financial Aid office. She was actively involved with American Indian communities\, and the schools wishes to demonstrate their deepest appreciation for her support. This year\, the AIRC and SANAI will reach a larger audience in the greater Santa Cruz and Monterey communities by hosting a pow wow at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in downtown Santa Cruz. Vendors from throughout the State of California will be present with cultural items for sale\, dancers will contest dance for prize money\, and the recipients of the E.A. Forssgren Scholarship will be recognized for their achievement. The UCSC Pow Wow 2025 will be a unique opportunity for UCSC students and affiliates to engage directly with and celebrate Native American cultures. \nThe American Indian Resource Center will be bringing back the UCSC Powwow for the first time since 1996 on Sunday May 18th 2025.\nThe event starts at 11:00a.m. and ends at 6:00p.m. Approximately 1 hour for setup and breakdown. Please reply with your interest/availability.\n\nDetails:\nRegistration: UCSC Pow Wow 2025 is open to the public and free of charge.\nNote: An application is required for vendors and volunteers. \nDate: Sunday\, May 18th\, 2025 \nTime: Doors open at 10:30 AM\, programming starts at 11:00 AM-6:00 PM \nLocation: Kaiser Permanente Arena\, 140 Front Street\, Santa Cruz\, CA 95060 \nParking: CLICK HERE for information regarding Downtown Santa Cruz parking and a full city map of available parking lots. \nBus: Santa Cruz Metro has many routes that will drop off near Kaiser Permanente Arena.
