DESCRIPTION:California Indian Studies and Scholars Association (CISSA)\nCalifornia Indian Studies Conference and Gathering\nIntellectual Genealogies and Radical Relations\nSan Diego State University\nFebruary 13-14\, 2025\nSubmissions Due January 1st\, 2025 \nThe California Indian Studies and Scholars Association (CISSA) welcomes submissions\nfor the 2025 California Indian Studies Conference and Gathering to be held on\nKumeyaay homelands at San Diego State University. Centering the themes of\nintellectual genealogies and radical relations\, the CISSA Council of Leadership invites\nour membership and collaborators to think through and engage the foundational works\,\ntheories\, and practices of California Indian Studies. Participants are asked to consider\nwhich California Indian intellectual inheritances are critical to their work now\, be they\nacademic\, artistic\, poetic\, or everyday practices. In what ways is the long history of\nCalifornia Indian thought evident in your work? How do you contribute to the cultural\nproduction and discourse of California Indian Studies? What directions should California\nIndian Studies be growing? \nThe CISSA Council of Leadership will consider the following types of submissions:\nAuthors and audience Book Discussion\, Individual paper presentations\, Posters\, Creative multimedia submissions (film\, etc.)\, Roundtable discussions\,Pedagogical presentations\, Creative workshops\, Cultural crafting (weaving\, etc.)\, Instructions for submissions: All submissions must have a title\, abstract (250 word limit)\, and presenter bio (150 word\nlimit). \nThe abstract should answer the following questions:\n● What is the paper/session about? \n● What methods does your paper/session engage with? \n● Which communities are impacted by your research? \n● How does your paper/session engage with and contribute to California Indian\nstudies? \nSubmissions will be accepted via email.\nPlease include “2025 CISSA Conference and Gathering Submission” in the subject line\nto ensure your submission receives full consideration.\nEmail submissions to cissa.listserv@gmail.com by 11:59 pm January 1st\, 2025
