It’s about building the relationship\, choosing time with the land\, over all else\, even if\, for a short time. Run camp comes to life the afternoon of Thursday\, Oct\, 10. Runners and drivers are highly encouraged to come out and camp the duration of the run.On Sunday\, Oct 13\, Tribal Liaisons from California Truth & Healing Council will host a regional hearing at the run camp. Bring your truths\, the love for your people\, your advocacy!There is one main camp this year\, all good roads\, meals provided. As always the Modoc Ancestral Run will happen regardless of rain\, sleet\, hail\, or snow.

SUMMARY:Gallery Talk with Brenda Mallory
DESCRIPTION:Join the museum for a Gallery Talk with Brenda Mallory.  The artist will discuss her portfolio of works and several of the pieces included in the solo exhibition: In the Absence of Instruction on view at the Gorman Museum from Sep 18\, 2023 – Jan 26\, 2025. \nBrenda Mallory’s mixed media sculptural works are comprised of a variety of materials including cloth\, fibers\, beeswax\, and found objects.  By creating multiple forms that are joined with crude hardware that imply tenuous connections or repairs\, her work addresses ideas of interference and disruption in long-established systems of nature and human cultures. \nMallory lives in Portland\, Oregon but grew up in Oklahoma and is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She holds a BA in Linguistics & English from UCLA and a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art. She is a recipient of the The Hallie Ford Fellowship\, the Eiteljorg Contemporary Native Art Fellowship\, the Native Arts and Culture Foundation Fellowship in Visual Art and the Ucross Native Fellowship. \nAll are welcome.\nReception to follow.\nParking and admission is free.
