SUMMARY:Canoe Day in Wigi (Humboldt Bay)
DESCRIPTION:CANOE DAY IN WIGI BAYThe organizing committee for the Canoes on Wigi (Humboldt Bay) invite all Native Americans across the Pacific Northwest to participate in this powerful and historical Indigenous cultural event on October 3\, 2026.Hosted by Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples\, this gathering is aiming to bring together at least 16 Indigenous Nations from across “California” and the Pacific Northwest for a weekend of canoe journeys\, traditional foods\, local vendors\, and youth-centered activities. The event celebrates the enduring connection between Indigenous peoples\, the water\, and the land — and provides an opportunity for the wider community to learn\, share\, and participate in Indigenous cultural renewal and our relations to water.Through canoe rides\, storytelling\, traditional songs\, and intertribal exchange\,participants and visitors will experience the living traditions that continue to thrive\, such as canoe building. There will be hands-on spaces for youth learning to ensure the next generation carries forward the knowledge of their ancestors. For more information\, call 707-825-7640 or email kate@7genfund.org
