SUMMARY:Bay Area AIAN Gathering of Hope and Healing
DESCRIPTION:CCUIH’s Rising Together and Urban Indian Health partners invite survivors of violence and advocates to a closed\, cultural space to share their stories of hope\, healing\, and resilience through their experiences with domestic and interpersonal violence. The organization hopes to share knowledge and medicine in order to cope\, heal\, and gather community input for future Rising Together materials. They aim to address all forms of violence in Native communities through a community-driven approach. \nThe event will take place at San Jose State University: The Diaz Compean Student Union.\nOne Washington Sq. San Jose\, CA 95192: Conference Room A & B \nPlease see attached map for closest parking. \nActivities Include:\nStory Sharing\nHealing Art Projects\nQuiet Room\nLunch to be served promptly at 12 noon\nHope and Healing Altar – please feel free to bring your own spiritual medicines and meaningful items to create a beautiful alter for this heavy\, but healing space. Your items will return home with you after the event. \n*Optional MMIP Survey by Santa Clara Valley will be conducted at the event \n*Filming will be happening for our upcoming Rising Together film\, but it is optional\, and you are welcome to opt out* \nFilming by Condor Visual Media\nA digital media library for future generations.\nFounded and operated by\nAndrew James Pittman & Lisset Valencia-Pittman.\nCondor Visual Media LLC\, a digital video and photo production company\, is dedicated to serving 18 sovereign tribal nations in San Diego and beyond. Their mission is to inspire\, strengthen\, and promote healthy relationships through the sharing of stories. Andrew\, a proud member of the Los Coyotes tribal nation in Warner Springs\, partners with his wife Lisset to bring forth their extensive expertise in content creation\, spanning over ten years. They collaborate to document historical events\, preserve oral history\, and develop educational materials for diverse audiences.\nGiven the historical underrepresentation of Native people in digital media\, it is crucial to reclaim dormant information while creating meaningful and accurate portrayals.
