Be part of the first tribally led marine stewardship program within the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary. \n📍 Location: Morro Bay Location: Morro Bay CA. \n• Meeting Area/ Check In: Morro Bay Paddlesports 1215 Embarcadero Suite B\n11-AM – 3:30/4:00PM \n📅 Date: June 13 Saturday 2026\n⏰ Check In Time: 10:30-45 Am\nLaunch Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 \n🌿 Program Launch \nChumash Marine Stewardship Science Leadership Program\n(Chumash Marine Stewardship SLP) \n* Stanford University – Marine Biology\, Palumbi Lab\n* Chumash Marine Stewards \n🔬 Hands-On eDNA Activities \n1) Shoreline Casting\nCast a line from shore using a specialized setup to collect environmental DNA samples. \n2) Kayak Water eDNA Testing (Guided Training and Demonstration )\nVenture just beyond the surf near kelp beds to gather samples using traditional and scientific methods combined. \n🎨 Cultural Activities \n* Cultural Materials Workshop \n🍽 Food & Refreshments \n* Free lunch for registered program participants (RSVP required) \nWhat to Bring:\n* Beach/Swim wear + Layers! windbreakers or other water-resistant clothes.
