We used to go over that way to the ranch to pick gooseberries.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Tama uusuusa aweenakwen\u00fcm ranchiva\u2019an. Chehen\u00fcma pohoopita.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the summer we could find lots of berries.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Su\u2019ura tazava\u2019ana m\u00fcts owot mehen\u00fcm poho\u2019apita.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So we went there one afternoon when I was just a girl.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Suvois aweena hugariikwenaaka n\u00fc\u2019\u00fc neezhagai.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We arrive and I put our food up in the trees.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

I ask my brother, \u201cCan the bears reach this here?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

He says no <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Meeneen, “Yuwaata.”<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and so we walk out towards the hill <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Tama pagivaada aween keevova\u2019ana.<\/span><\/p>\n

where we had seen the berries before.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We used to gather a lot so my mom could make jam.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
