Upcoming Documentary Project: Chumash Account of 1824 Revolt
November 22 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Ahead of Indigenous People’s Day next week, the organization is spotlighting upcoming supported programs such as “Resistance and Persistence” at the Oakbrook Chumash Indian Museum in Thousand Oaks, which is recognizing the 200th anniversary of the 1824 Chumash Revolt against several of the Spanish missions established in Chumash lands.
This little-known chapter of history highlights the cultural resistance of Indigenous peoples to the harsh environment of colonialism and establishes context for the ongoing cultural revitalization efforts of Chumash people today. Join the museum November 8 for this special program of Spenser Jaimes speaking on the Upcoming Documentary Project: Chumash Account of 1824 Revolt.
