Celebrating Civil Rights Heroes

“Celebrating Civil Rights Heroes,” hosted by West Hollywood Poet Laureate Jen Cheng will feature Rudy Ortega Jr., Tribal President of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians, as one of the speakers on the panel about Civil Rights Leaders and coalition-building. Other speakers include Shonda Buchanan (author of Black Indian), Martha Gonzalez (Quetzal), Miya Iwataki (Little Tokyo Historical Society) and Ronna Magy (LGBTQ poet).  There is a reception and sister event following the panel, Palabras Literary Salon, featuring poet Sean Hill and other BIPOC writers. All are welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the City of West Hollywood on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the Plummer Park Community Center Rooms 5 & 6.
