Native Student Programs Presents Cutcha Risling Baldy-What the F Am I still Doing Here?: Indigenous Feminisms, Survivance, and Native American Futures.

 

Cutcha Rosling Baldy, Associate Professor of Native American Studies at Cal Poly Humboldt is Hupa, Karuk, and Yurok and enrolled in the Hoopa Valley Tribe. She researches Indigenous feminisms, California Indians, Environmental Justice, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and decolonization.

Her book: We Are Dancing For You: Native feminisms and the revitalization of women’s coming-of-age ceremonies received “Best First Book in Native American and Indigenous Studies” at the 2019 Native American Indigenous Studies Association Conference.

This talk explores Dr. Risling Baldy’s current research on Indigenous Feminist interventions and Native Academic futures and the role of Indigenous and Native American Studies to redefine “success” in the university and beyond.

She’ll probably also try to convince you to give all the land back.
