Toloma 5k

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, UC Merced will host the inaugural Toloma 5K Run Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9-11 a.m. Indigenous tribes of California have strong traditions of distance running, whether it be for communication or competition. In honor of this tradition, we invite the local tribes and the greater Merced community to celebrate with us. The run will start beneath the “Beginnings” sculpture, continue along Scholars Lane Bridge and end at the newly constructed Toloma Grove reflection area. “Toloma” means “bobcat” in various dialects of Miwuk.

Runners who cross the finish line will receive a special UC Merced Toloma 5K Medal.
