Workshop: Native American Style Flute – Saturday, September 21 (12:00 pm & 2:00 pm) – State Indian Museum

Instructor: Al Striplen (Amah Mutsun Ohlone/Aztec)

Al is a docent at the State Indian Museum and self-taught Native flute player. He has been invited to speak about the healing properties of the flute and its use in integrative medicine. He is an illustrator and author of three children’s books and has recently released a flute CD.

This one-hour workshop will include a demonstration, a brief history of the Native American style flute and its spread among Native American Tribes, and an overview of the structure, design, and how to learn to play.

Those interested may bring their own flute or purchase one from the museum store at a discounted price.
