American Indian Cultural District Sixth Anniversary & State Recognition Celebration

Join the San Francisco American Indian Cultural District (AICD) Sixth Anniversary & State Recognition Celebration on Saturday, March 28th, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, on Valencia Street (15th – 18th Streets).

The American Indian Cultural District (AICD) was officially recognized as a state-designated Cultural District by the California Arts Council (CAC) on Friday, December 12th, 2025. Established on March 31st, 2020, it is the only recognized American Indian Cultural District of its kind and size in California and the United States, dedicated to recognizing, honoring, and celebrating the American Indian legacy, culture, people, and contributions throughout Yelamu (San Francisco).

The celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, special guest speakers—including elected officials and tribal leaders—and a parade honoring American Indian and Indigenous cultures. This event is free and open to the public.

The event is hosted in partnership the American Indian Cultural Center, Association of Ramaytush Ohlone, Bay Area American Indian Two Spirits, Native American Health Center, Indigenous Justice, Friendship House Association of American Indians, Wahpepah’s Kitchen, SFUSD Indian Education Program, Calle 24 Cultural District, and The Cultural Conservancy.
