Second Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) Summit & Day of Action

Alongside the Yurok Tribe, Wilton Rancheria is humbled to host the 2024 MMIP Summit and Day of Action in Sacramento next month. The purpose of the event is to bring Tribal, state, and local elected leaders and law enforcement together with families affected by the MMIP crisis to raise awareness and work together toward substantive policy changes. Second Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) Summit

Monday, February 12th, is the MMIP Summit 9-5pm will bring together tribal leaders from across the state, MMIP survivors and victim advocates as well as state lawmakers, federal partners, law enforcement and academic researchers to identify solutions to stop the crisis. The primary goal of the Summit is to give a voice to California’s missing and murdered Indigenous People and their families. For too long, Indigenous People have been invisible throughout the state. This in-person gathering will take place at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, CA, USA.

Tuesday, February 13th, is the MMIP Day of Action 9-3pm on the West Steps of the Capitol. The Day of Action will start with a press conference at 9am on the West Steps of the Capitol. We will feature a cultural exchange involving tribes from northern, central and southern California. There will be keynote speakers, including; Tribal leaders, legislators, the families of MMIP victims and MMIP survivors. The day will end with MMIP Walk around the Capitol. Tribal Leaders are invited to State legislator meetings throughout the day.
