Indigenous Science Weekend

September 27 - September 29

Cal Poly Humboldt and CA State Parks present the Indigenous Science Weekend at Sue-Meg State Park SEPTEMBER 27-29th, 2024.

This is a weekend for participants to improve their understanding of the existential crisis
faced relating to climate change. Emerging technologies will be explored (i.e., other ways
of meeting energy needs), including the local Off Shore Wind (OSW) projects proposed for this
region of Indian Country. Presentations and hosted discussions via Elders, cultural
practitioners, Native professionals, developing professionals (our students), & supportive
specialists will have a stage for this indigenous truth telling event. This event will provide
the opportunity to myth bust in all directions regarding what we know, what we don’t know,
and what we need to know to make wise decisions regarding how we deal with the existential
crisis of climate change.
